DEVOUR THE DAY Rocking Washington State – TIME & PRESSURE

DEVOUR THE DAY Rocking Washington State – TIME & PRESSURE
Halloween is right around the corner…Are you looking for a killer time in Seattle? Well Devour the Day is taking over the El Corazon stage on October 31st and they may be just what you are looking for. Their hard hitting hard rock sound is guaranteed to leave you with a bangover.

Devour the Day is currently touring around the U.S. in support of their highly anticipated and critically acclaimed debut album, TIME & PRESSURE, which was released May 7 on Fat Lady Music. Their tour, with opening act Trapt, rips through Washington state beginning on Thursday, October 31 (Halloween!) in Seattle at El Corazon and then again taking to the stage at the Knitting Factory in Spokane on Saturday, November 2.

Formed in 2012, DEVOUR THE DAY is born from the brain trust of Joey Chicago (Bass, Vocals, Songwriter) and Blake Allison (Lead singer, Guitar, Songwriter and Producer). Having much success with the band Egypt Central, Blake and Joey sought to break out on their own, writing and producing music without compromise.

Joey explains, “Our lives got to a point that we had lost trust, we lost our compass…ion, feeling and our way.” The water was so murky we didn’t know which way was up.” What we did know is that we should keep writing and keep fighting because that was the truth and our center.”

What transpired is a new album scheduled for release May 7, 2013. Painting a picture in listeners imagination is what this songwriting duo does best. Joey continues, “While our songs are very personal to our experiences we are very aware to keep it open for interpretation. There is nothing more gratifying when a fan explains how our songs help them in their lives. It’s humbling.”

Giving perspective Blake states, “the process of writing this record is something totally different than what we had done before. The pressure was enormous and we felt that every decision we made needed to be perfect. There was no room for mistakes. We needed to make choices that were sometimes very difficult but once made it felt like the weight we had been carrying got lighter brick by brick.”

DEVOUR THE DAY (@devourtheday) was born from the brain trust of former Egypt Central members Joey “Chicago” Walser (bass, backing vocals, songwriter) and Blake Allison, who steps out from behind the drum kit to sing lead vocals and play guitar, in addition to being a producer and co-songwriter.  Their debut album, TIME & PRESSURE, will be released May 7 on Fat Lady Music.  A video teaser for the album can be seen on the band’s official YouTube page:  http://bit.ly/16caHCM.

“Good Man” is the explosive first single, which will be serviced to radio March 29 (which happens to be Good Friday) and will be available for download at online retail outlets April 2.  It conveys redemption and humility while bearing the questions, “Am I too far gone?” or “Am I even worth saving?”

TIME & PRESSURE is filled with the distinctive Egypt Central heavy beats and guitar riffs that fans know and love them for  (their self-titled and WHITE RABBIT albums spawned the Top 15 Active Rock hits “You Make Me Sick”  and “White Rabbit,” respectively), which are now a key element of DEVOUR THE DAY’s true core.  They’re the driving force of such songs as “Get Out Of My Way,” “Blackout,” and “Respect.”  This powerful wall of sound embodies the perseverance of these two artists, no matter the circumstances.

Armed with stellar reviews Devour the Day is one of those cant miss shows rolling through Seattle.

“’Good Man’ is a stand out song from the first listen.  Egypt Central was a big band for 98Rock, and the early signs are this could be bigger!  I wanna be a ‘Good Man!’” — Steve Huber – WIYY/98Rock (Baltimore MD)

“’Good Man’ is already Top 5 phones! This song sticks out and sounds awesome on the air.” —  Tony LaBrie – WWBN/Banana 101.5 (Flint, MI)

“Awesome song!  Already getting good research.  It’s nice to get a solid record like this to play, and I feel it’s going to be a big hit in Colorado Springs.” —  Jack Mehoff, KILO (Colorado Springs, CO)
