Halestorm, Girl on Fire, & Jaded Mary Rock The Showbox!

Halestorm

With Girl On Fire & Jaded Mary

At the Showbox at the Market 9.22.13

So, after a weekend jam packed with local music, at Louie G’s Dreamfest 2013.  I had to cut Sunday a little short & was off to The Showbox to catch a couple other local bands.  Jaded Mary and Girl On Fire got the honor of opening for Halestorm.  Jaded Mary has played with quite a few bands and a lot of clubs around town.  They even played with Buckcherry a couple of months ago at El Corazon.  The band consists of Leif Wagner (drums), Jamal (bass), Tim Bertsch (guitar), and David James (vocals).  Together they make a hard hitting rock sound that you will remember.  If you haven’t yet, catch a show, their next one will be at the Seattle Hard Rock along with Windowpane, The Mothership, Away, and Jason Kertson & The Immortals.  All of which are amazing local rock bands!  Do yourself a favor & get Jaded!  You can check out their Reverbnation page here:  http://www.reverbnation.com/jadedmary

Girl On Fire, another Seattle band, was next.  They consist of Austin Held (vocals), Nick McMahan (guitar), Nicholas Wiggins (guitar), Josh Mouser (bass), and Harry MacDonald (drums).  Now these guys were fun to watch & really drew in the crowd.  They were all over the stage.  From standing on the bass drum to crowd walking, and everywhere in between, it was kind of hard to decide where to keep my camera pointed!  Their latest single, The Takedown!, can be found on their newest album Not Broken, released this past September 3rd through Century Media Records. This single and more can be found here on PureVolume: http://www.purevolume.com/new/girlonfire.

Halestorm was headlining this sold out show & they came out blazing the packed house!  Their members are, in case you already didn’t know, are siblings Lzzy (vocals & guitar) & Arejay Hale (drums), Josh Smith (bass, vocals), and Joe Hottinger (guitar, vocals).  They were flat-out amazing!  Right from the beginning they everywhere, all over the stage and sounding good!  No lack of energy there.  Lzzy is an amazing role model for young rocker women everywhere.  She’s no joke, the real thing all the way.  Her attitude, her voice, the way rocks the guitar, and carries herself on stage are all rock & roll. Period.

Then there’s her little brother Arejay.  He plays drums like I’ve never seen before.  He’s the human Animal, as opposed to the Muppet.  He’s crazy-insanely energetic and fun to watch.  It was hard to not just take pictures of him!  Lzzy explained that her mother said “Lzzy, you’re the reason we had two children. He’s the reason we only had two children.”  It was pretty funny & easy to believe, because if he was this off the hook as an adult, you could only imagine him as a little kid.

They were all good.  They were so good; I couldn’t believe it when it was all over.  They were so entertaining that the time flew by & I was kinda sad that they were done.  They came out with Love Bites (So Do I) & Mz Hyde, and ended with I Get Off.  Then they came back with a two song encore consisting of I Miss the Misery & Here’s To Us.  And they didn’t let up in between.  There was even the most entertaining drum solo I’ve seen in real life!

This was a crazy-awesome show that I’m still reliving in my head.  Hopefully you were lucky enough to have a ticket for the sold-out, packed show.  If not, definitely try again next time.  Your brain will be blown!  I feel very fortunate to have gotten to cover such a great show by one of the hottest rock bands out there.  For music, videos, & any other information check out their website at http://www.halestormrocks.com/.
