Rob Zombie steals the show at Pain in the Grass 2014

A Rob Zombie show is a theatrical extravaganza rooted in his comic-book and horror-flick obsessions, and it makes for a highly entertaining night each and every time. He along with his unique brand of horror rock exploded onto the PITG stage on Sept 12, 2014 with a killer zombiefied “The Star-Spangled Banner” followed by a Grand Funk Railroad cover of “We’re an American Band“.  That classic opening tune with a touch of Zombie instantly ignited the thousands of on hand Washington state rockers. The classic Zombie soon followed as the band wasted little time jumping straight into “Thunder Kiss ’65.

The energy on stage was incredible, it was nonstop aggression from start to finish as Zombie and crew ran from one side of the stage to the other dropping face melting riffs and serious hooks all over White River.  This was my first live Zombie experience and was blown away by guitarist John 5 as he added a seemingly new twist to some old familiar Zombie riffs on tracks that go back years.  The set continued on with dynamic live renditions of “House of 1000 Corpses” and “Living Dead Girl

When you take into consideration all of the theatrics that are involved, a Rob Zombie show is incredibly straightforward and in your face. Zombie pours a ton of money into his stage show, and when you combine that theatrical prowess with the energized, rock solid performance you are left with one conclusion. Rob Zombie steals the show each and every time.
