Eight Local Rock Bands You Have to Hear

With all the screaming of “Rock is Dead!” from the likes of the almost departed and borderline irrelevant 60+ year old Gene Simmons  on to the latest barrage on “Something From Nothing” by the Foo Fighters I am here to tell you, Rock is not dead. All one has to do is take a look around.  There is no shortage of talent here in the Pacific Northwest especially when it comes to the down right, done dirty Rock scene.  I am talking about hard hitting rock and roll here and here are 8 bands that I personally love that can really throw down.

This isn’t a popularity contest, this list could be 100 strong…. so if you want to spout off about who is keeping the Rock scene alive for you  jump in the conversation here or on facebook

Mom’s Rocket

Mom’s Rocket Vocals: Tom Roney Guitar: Jason “VooDoo” Celestine Bass: Randy Keller Drums Jason “Ringo” Weisenhaus Hailing from Olympia the guys first got together in the basement doing acoustic jams. In no time at all they escalated into full-on Rock band. Mom’s Rocket had just decided to explore recording when they got a call from long-time friend and producer John Dammeier who asked if he could produce a record… and the rocket was launched! Mom’s Rocket blasted onto the Northwest music scene as the house-band for Seattle Sports Radio 950 KJR. In addition to the radio and web presence on KJR, Mom’s Rocket received frequent air-play on Seattle stations such as KNFK’s “Garage Monkey”, KISW’s “Loud and Local”, KISW’s “9:00 cockfight” (2-time champions), as well as performing live on the Bob River’s morning show on KZOK.
